4-Point Seat Belts
Why four-point racing harnesses? Simply put, safety first kids. When you drive a car around from pre 1980’s, especially one that was first designed in 1968, you really get an appreciation for modern safety regulations. You also get a little uneasy about how much bigger those cars had to get in order to comply.
You can’t easily add side curtain airbags, but we can install a removable bar behind the rear seats to accommodate the four-point seat belts. I didn’t want to destroy the usability of a station wagon, so we made custom mounts that bolt into the body of the car. The crossbar, via quick release connectors, can be mounted when in use and removed completely if the rear storage area is needed when the seats are down.
The four-point harnesses are Simpson belts specifically for midget racing, so designed for youth sizes. My kids have gotten pretty good at using racing harnesses and feel pretty cool.
